The property we’ve leased is very unique. Portions of the property have significant historical value, dating back many decades, while the rest of it has been custom created to our needs and built up over recent years by graduated members of our programs of ages ranging from 17 all the way down to eight years of age!

Our property has a number of vintage buildings that came with the property, a carryover from World War II when our location was constructed for use as a Japanese internment camp. Of course, it never was used as an internment camp (you’ll notice no historic preservation society beating down our doors!) and since we came in, we’ve done our best to make the place happy and lively. The property was in a pretty bad state of disrepair when we took possession, but today it’s all up to code and very exciting for our guests.

We’ve made some pretty amazing upgrades since the days of would-be Japano-interment camper, and now we have running water in several of the thirty-six buildings, and electricity in even more. We originally planned to put electricity in all of them, but we chose to go with safety over convenience. You know how dangerous electricity can be in a building with no roof, and so do we, so we go with candles and lanterns, when available.

If you’re in doubt, we welcome you to join your junior campers to check out our facilities (please set an appointment prior to showing up, mostly for legal and insurance reasons) to see for yourself how current, modern and wholly up to snuff our facilities truly are.

It’s not that we don’t welcome outsiders, it’s just that our schedule requires careful preparation so that no persons from the outside see things that might alarm them, no matter how perfectly safe, effective and ultimately successful they may be.
