Our camp leader, Dietrich Bader-Roehm, is a strict mensch, but one that is unusually well tempered in his disciplinary stature. Dietrich is a graduate of the Argentinean HJ Youth Camp (Double-S Ranking) graduating order of 1978. He immigrated back to the United States with his US born mother, after which he attended Columbia University in the undergraduate pursuit of a degree in fine arts, which he nearly completed.

After a brief stint in the United States Marine Corps, Herr Bader-Roehm set out on a church sponsored street mission where he drafted countless troubled teens, many of them runaways, into a life of order, respect and acquiescence. Many of the parents of these teens thought this was impossible, but then again, they never thought their troubled teens would shave their heads for a pack of cigarettes either, but Herr Bader-Roehm showed them who was in charge.

Today Herr Bader-Roehm makes his home in Arizona, where he lives with his wife Margaret and his children Wilhelm, Sabina, Heinrich and Ursa, Together they enjoy such hobbies as boating, archery, hunting and backpacking across Europe while staying in hostels.
